20-Year Sentence Issued to Ary Gisell Silva Raya in Baja California Murders of Rhoad and Robinson Brothers
Law enforcement officials in Baja California announced on Thursday that they secured a conviction in the case involving the killing of three men with San Diego connections who were found dead in 2024. The victims, identified as Carter Rhoad and brothers Callum and Jake Robinson, disappeared during a camping and surfing trip after failing to arrive at their planned accommodations. Their bodies were discovered days later in Santo Tomas, Baja California.
Victims Found in Remote Well
Investigators reported that the victims’ decomposing bodies were located in a remote, 50-foot-deep well situated about four miles from the location where they were killed. The well also contained a fourth cadaver that had been there for a longer period. The Baja California medical examiner determined that each of the three men died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities stated that the victims were killed sometime between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. after meeting an individual identified as Ary Gisell Silva Raya in Punta San José in Ensenada on April 27, 2024.
Silva Raya Sentenced for Robbery and Vehicle Theft
Prosecutors announced that Silva Raya was sentenced on Wednesday to 20 years in prison. She pleaded guilty to robbery with violence and vehicle theft related to the incident and waived her right to trial. The sentencing also included a fine of approximately $3,000, with additional payments required for victims.
Investigators stated that after meeting the victims, Silva Raya contacted one of three men currently held for homicide. Officials believe the three homicide suspects returned later that night, killed the victims, and stole their possessions and truck. Authorities previously reported that the suspects sought the truck primarily for its tires.
Three Suspects Await Trial in Baja California
Prosecutors identified the homicide suspects as Jesús Gerardo García Cota, known as “El Kekas,” his brother Irineo Francisco García Montaño, and Ángel Jesús León Aguilera. All three have opted to proceed to trial and are awaiting future hearing dates. Aguilera was taken into custody in July.
The victims were known to have connections to the Point Loma and Ocean Beach communities in San Diego, California. Rhoad was a resident of Point Loma, while Callum Robinson lived in Ocean Beach and Jake Robinson was visiting from Australia.
