Dallas FedEx Worker Charged in Hammer and Gun Attack on Co-Worker
A FedEx worker in Dallas, Texas, United States, has been arrested and charged after allegedly attacking a longtime co-worker with a hammer and then shooting him with his own gun. Authorities said the incident occurred Monday morning outside a FedEx facility located at 3901 Adler Drive.
According to an arrest warrant, the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Ian Hollingsworth, blocked his co-worker’s car with his pickup truck as the victim prepared for his 10:30 a.m. shift. The victim, 1994 FedEx employee Reginald Miles, was sitting in his 2018 Nissan Sport when Hollingsworth exited his 2013 Chevrolet truck and smashed Miles’ car window with a hammer.
After the attack with the hammer, Hollingsworth reportedly picked up Miles’ own gun and fired three shots. Investigators said Miles was struck twice in the shoulder and once in the chest before Hollingsworth fled the scene.
Miles was transported to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition. Authorities confirmed that Hollingsworth is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held in Dallas County Jail on $25,000 bond.
Police said Hollingsworth fled to his home in Grand Prairie after the incident. He was later arrested after his father convinced him to surrender. Officers recovered both the hammer and the revolver from Hollingsworth’s truck.
Investigators noted that Hollingsworth had previously accused Miles of giving him dirty looks but provided no clear motive for the escalation. Evidence includes a text message sent by Hollingsworth after the attack in which he admitted his actions, as well as video footage and witness accounts confirming the events.
Authorities also confirmed that Hollingsworth had no prior criminal history. District officials said further legal proceedings will follow as the case develops.
The violent incident has raised concerns among employees at the facility, where both men had been working—Miles since 1994 and Hollingsworth since 2021.
