Tragedy Strikes Near Marquette University Campus
A devastating car crash near Marquette University in Milwaukee on Friday evening claimed the lives of two men’s lacrosse players. Authorities confirmed that 20-year-old Noah Snyder of Irving, New York, and 19-year-old Scott Michaud of Springboro, Ohio, died in the accident.
The collision took place at approximately 5 p.m., when police say a 41-year-old driver struck the car carrying six individuals. Both Snyder and Michaud were pronounced dead at the scene. Four additional passengers, identified as their teammates, sustained injuries but are expected to recover.
University and Community in Mourning
In a statement shared Friday night on social media, Marquette University President Kimo Ah Yun asked for support for the grieving families.
“Please keep Noah and Scott’s parents, siblings and families, and the Marquette Athletics and college communities in your prayers,” he wrote. “Noah and Scott’s lives were taken too soon and we share in the heartbreak of their teammates, coaches and those who knew them personally.”
The university also confirmed that Snyder and Michaud had been recognized academically, each earning a spot on the Big East All-Academic Team last year by maintaining grade point averages above 3.0.
Remembering the Players
Snyder, a sophomore attack, represented the Haudenosaunee Nationals at the World Lacrosse Men’s U20 Championship in South Korea, where the team secured a fourth-place finish.
In a tribute on Facebook, the Haudenosaunee Nationals praised his contributions:
“Noah demonstrated dedication to his sport, a strong sense of responsibility toward his teams, and genuine respect for his heritage. While Noah’s time with us was far too brief, his legacy will endure in the memories and stories shared by family, friends, teammates, and the entire community.”
Michaud, a sophomore goalie, was also deeply admired within the program. Both athletes had bright futures on and off the field.
Investigation Underway
Milwaukee police confirmed the ongoing investigation, with the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office currently reviewing potential charges against the 41-year-old driver involved.
