A newly released bodycam recording provides a detailed look at the sequence of events that preceded a deadly crash in Portland, Connecticut. The incident, which took place in late August, ended with the death of 29-year-old Abigail Mann of Meriden.

Police Stop in Glastonbury Turns Fatal Minutes Later

According to police, on August 23, just before noon, an officer in Glastonbury discovered Mann slumped over the steering wheel of her Toyota Camry. The vehicle was positioned at the intersection of Main Street and Great Pond Road.

The footage shows the officer approaching the passenger side and attempting to open the door. He can be heard shouting for Mann to put the vehicle in park. Rather than complying, she drove away, heading down Main Street.

Pursuit Halted Over Safety Concerns

The officer briefly pursued Mann after she sped off but quickly ended the chase due to public safety concerns. Authorities confirmed that this decision was made to prevent further risk to other motorists and pedestrians in the area.

Fatal Crash in Portland

Moments later, Mann’s car crashed near Apple Tree Lane in Portland. She did not survive the collision. Police stated that no additional information is available at this time.
