5-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Houston Apartment Pool

Houston police and fire personnel were dispatched to the complex in the 3100 block of Hayes Road shortly after midnight. Officers arrived moments before firefighters and immediately initiated CPR on the child, according to the Houston Police Department.

Despite emergency efforts, the girl was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Houston Fire Department.

Investigators stated the girl left her apartment alone and walked to the pool. She was found in the water by another resident. Authorities said it is unclear how long she had been in the pool before she was discovered.
