San Antonio Rideshare Driver Injured in Early Morning Attempted Carjacking

A rideshare driver in San Antonio was injured in the early hours of Saturday, July 12, 2025, after what began as a request for directions turned into a violent attempted carjacking, according to police.

The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. in the 3200 block of Culebra Road, where officers responded to reports of a cutting in progress. When they arrived at the scene, they found that the 45-year-old driver had sustained a laceration during a struggle with a teenage suspect.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the driver had stopped to ask a 19-year-old male for directions. The suspect allegedly offered to provide help in exchange for a ride. Once inside the vehicle, the teen demanded control of the car, leading to a physical altercation.

During the struggle, the suspect reportedly used an unspecified tool to injure the driver. The nature of the weapon has not been publicly disclosed, but authorities confirmed that the driver was cut in the process.

The suspect fled the scene on foot but was quickly located and detained by officers. Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) and personnel from the Night Criminal Investigations Division (NCID) processed the area for evidence.

At this time, police have not released the names of the suspect or the victim, and no further details regarding charges or the driver's medical condition have been made public.
