Four Men Shot in Drive-By Attack Near Cook County Courthouse During Early Morning Hours

A violent early morning shooting near the Cook County Courthouse in Chicago left four men injured, with three victims in critical condition, according to police. The gunfire erupted shortly after 1:45 a.m. on Saturday near the intersection of South California Avenue and West 27th Street, in the city’s Little Village neighborhood, a densely populated area not far from central civic buildings.

Officers were alerted to the incident when multiple gunshot victims arrived at Mt. Sinai Hospital as walk-ins, prompting an urgent investigation. The victims had been sitting in a parked vehicle when a dark-colored SUV drove past them. According to initial police statements, someone inside the moving vehicle opened fire without warning before speeding away from the scene.

The victims include three men aged 32, 26, and 25, all of whom sustained gunshot wounds to the body. Medical staff at Mt. Sinai have listed them in critical condition, and trauma teams are working to stabilize their injuries. A fourth victim, a 33-year-old man, was shot in the leg and is currently in fair condition.

As of now, no suspects have been taken into custody, and Area One detectives are actively investigating the shooting. Authorities are reviewing nearby surveillance footage and working to identify potential witnesses in hopes of tracking down those responsible.
