Authorities Confirm Federico Gonzalez’s Identity After Tragic Loop 410 Accident
A fatal accident on Loop 410 over the weekend has left a community in mourning after a young man was struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross the highway. Authorities have since identified the victim, shedding light on the heartbreaking incident.
Victim Identified in Devastating Collision
Officials confirmed that the pedestrian killed in the tragic crash was 20-year-old Federico Gonzalez. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office released his identity on Monday, stating that he succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.
Late-Night Accident on Loop 410
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, around 1:50 a.m., near the intersection of Loop 410 and Perrin Beitel. Police arrived at the scene to find Gonzalez’s body lying in the main lanes of Loop 410. A Toyota Tundra pickup truck was stopped nearby, close to the exit leading to I-35.

According to preliminary findings, Gonzalez had been at a local dance hall before the accident. For reasons still unknown, he attempted to cross the highway, putting himself in the path of oncoming traffic. As he ventured onto Loop 410, the Toyota Tundra struck him, leading to fatal consequences.
Driver Allegedly Found to Be Intoxicated
The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 42-year-old Joseph Cortez, was evaluated by officers at the scene. Investigators determined that Cortez was allegedly under the influence at the time of the accident. Authorities arrested him as part of the ongoing investigation into the crash.
