Smokey Robinson Under Criminal Investigation in Los Angeles Following Sexual Assault Allegations

The iconic Motown singer Smokey Robinson finds himself under a criminal investigation following serious sexual assault allegations made by former employees at his Los Angeles residence. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed they have opened an inquiry after a civil lawsuit brought forth by four women accusing Robinson of repeated abuse dating back more than a decade.

The women, who worked primarily as housekeepers at Robinson’s Chatsworth home, claim in the lawsuit that they endured ongoing sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, and workplace harassment. One of the allegations traces back to 2007, painting a disturbing picture of abuse hidden behind the walls of the celebrity’s mansion. According to court papers, threats and physical barriers were used to prevent the women from escaping during these alleged attacks, and in some cases, Robinson reportedly contacted them during their shifts to arrange meetings in secluded parts of the estate without surveillance.

Their attorney described the allegations as evidence of a “serial and sick rapist” whose behavior must be stopped. He also explained the women’s hesitation to report the abuse earlier, citing fears of losing their jobs, family backlash, and potential impacts on their immigration status.

Smokey Robinson’s legal team dismissed the lawsuit as a baseless money grab, pointing out that the police report was filed only after the $50 million lawsuit was launched. Robinson’s lawyer expressed confidence that the investigation will clear his client of all charges and characterized the lawsuit as a manufactured attempt to damage Robinson and his wife’s reputations.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau stated the investigation is in its early stages and provided no further details.

Meanwhile, allegations extend beyond the assaults, with court documents also claiming Robinson’s wife fostered a hostile work environment marked by emotional distress and derogatory remarks.

As the case unfolds, Robinson’s legal team plans to seek dismissal of the lawsuit, promising that their client will respond fully in due course. For now, the Motown legend’s decades-long legacy faces intense scrutiny amid these grave accusations.
