Jacksonville Transportation Authority Restructures Operations to Address $39 Million Shortfall

JACKSONVILLE, Florida — The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) announced a comprehensive organizational restructuring on Monday, November 2, eliminating 57 staff positions across administrative, vehicle maintenance, and dispatch operations. The cost-cutting measures follow earlier administrative adjustments in September, bringing total operational position reductions to 116 as the transit authority works to balance a projected $39 million fiscal budget deficit.

JTA Chief Executive Officer Nat Ford underscored that core fixed-route bus services, First Coast Flyer rapid transit corridors, and paratransit availability for individuals with disabilities will remain fully operational without route reductions. JTA is providing severance compensation, accrued leave payouts, and specialized career placement services to affected personnel.
