Department of Aviation Breaks Ground on Six-Gate Concourse M Reliever Facility

AUSTIN, Texas — Accelerating the multi-phase Journey With AUS capital expansion program, the Austin Department of Aviation officially broke ground on the Concourse M facility at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in early October 2026. The 37,000-square-foot terminal facility will deliver six additional passenger contact gates and comprehensive boarding amenities, strategically engineered to relieve gate congestion while construction proceeds on long-term midfield concourse infrastructure.

Aviation Director Ghizlane Badawi and municipal officials emphasized that the modular structure enables airlines to sustain escalating domestic routes without compromising turnaround schedules. The facility incorporates energy-efficient HVAC systems, high-efficiency ramp ground equipment, and accessible passenger boarding corridors designed to serve more than 2.4 million annual travelers through 2030.
