Tragedy Strikes in Kondhwa as Woman Loses Life in Two-Wheeler Accident

In a heart-wrenching incident, a 46-year-old woman lost her life while her husband sustained injuries following a two-wheeler accident in Kondhwa’s Tilekar Nagar on November 12. The mishap has left the local community shocked and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety.

The victim, identified as Punitadevi Vijayakumar Singh, was a resident of Venkatesh Galaxy Apartment in Kamthe Patilnagar, Kondhwa. Her husband, Vijayakumar Shivmangal Singh, aged 53, who was driving the two-wheeler, sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

According to preliminary reports, the couple was navigating through Tilekar Nagar when their vehicle skidded due to sudden braking. The impact threw both riders off the bike. Tragically, Punitadevi, who was riding pillion, suffered a severe head injury that proved fatal.

Local authorities promptly transported the couple to Sassoon General Hospital. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, Punitadevi succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Vijayakumar, though injured, remains stable under medical supervision.

Following the accident, a case has been registered against Vijayakumar Singh, the driver of the vehicle, based on a complaint filed by police constable Bipin Suryavanshi. Police Sub-Inspector Pooja Patil of the Kondhwa Police Station is leading the investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

While initial findings suggest the bike skidded due to abrupt braking, officials are exploring all angles, including road conditions and possible negligence, to understand the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
