RTD Deploys New T Line and Opens Dedicated East Colfax Bus Lanes

DENVER, Colorado — Implementing substantial systemwide service modernizations, the Regional Transportation District (RTD) rolled out major transit enhancements across the Mile High City in late September 2026. Effective September 27, RTD inaugurated the T (Temporary) Line rail service linking Lincoln Station to Alameda Station, alongside a new SkyRide Route AL providing seamless direct airport transit between Longmont and Denver International Airport.

Simultaneously, municipal and transit engineers officially opened the first phase of dedicated center-running bus-only lanes and raised passenger station platforms on East Colfax Avenue between Broadway and Colorado Boulevard. The project serves as the operational precursor to the full Lynx Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network, designed to provide high-frequency, reliable mobility along Denver’s busiest commercial corridor.

Aligning with RTD’s transitway expansions, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston advanced key milestones on his administration’s landmark housing vision to construct 20,000 new attainable homes across 150 acres of city-owned parcels. The municipal strategy prioritizes high-density, mixed-income residential towers situated directly adjacent to RTD light rail and BRT stations.

The Denver City Council reinforced the initiative by passing targeted permitting streamlining measures in mid-September, eliminating redundant design reviews and reducing pre-construction holding costs for developers committing to long-term rent-restricted units.
