Authorities ask public to help locate missing Seguin woman

SEGUIN, Texas — A Silver Alert has been issued for 71-year-old Wanda McCoon, who was last seen Wednesday morning in Seguin, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

McCoon was last seen at about 8:45 a.m. in the 5700 block of Musquiz Ridge, DPS said. Authorities did not release additional information about where she may have been headed or the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

The agency described McCoon as 5 feet, 4 inches tall with brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a brown sweater over a flannel shirt, dark blue pants with a white stripe and carrying a purse, according to the alert.

Silver Alerts are intended to quickly circulate information about missing older adults and other vulnerable people whose disappearance may place them at risk. The alerts rely heavily on public attention, especially from people who may have been in the area where the person was last seen or who recognize the clothing and physical description released by investigators.

Last known location was on Musquiz Ridge

Investigators have identified the 5700 block of Musquiz Ridge as McCoon's last known location. People who live, work or traveled through that part of Seguin on Wednesday morning may be able to provide information that helps establish her movements after she was last seen.

Authorities asked anyone who sees McCoon, believes they have seen her, or has information about her possible whereabouts to contact the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office at 830-379-1224. In an emergency or if McCoon is located, the public should call 911.

Residents are urged not to delay reporting potential sightings because even details that appear minor — including a time, location, direction of travel or a description of a vehicle — can assist law enforcement as they search for a missing person.

No information was released indicating that McCoon had been found. The Silver Alert remained the active public request for assistance in locating her, and the investigation is ongoing.
