Three Dead in Twin Falls, Idaho Shooting Near In-N-Out Burger
Three people have died following a shooting incident at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday afternoon, according to local authorities.
The shooting occurred around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Blue Lakes Boulevard North, where a large number of shoppers and diners were present. Twin Falls spokesperson Josh Palmer confirmed that at least two others were injured in the violence, and that number could increase as details emerge.
Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks announced in a press conference that a suspected shooter has died following the incident, although it remains unclear if this individual is included among the three deceased. The investigation is currently focused on identifying the shooter and uncovering a possible motive.
“We believe the threat to the community is over,” Hicks stated. “The suspected shooter in this incident is deceased.”
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, city, county, and state law enforcement agencies responded quickly to reports of an active shooter, prompting a shelter-in-place order that has since been lifted. Roads in the vicinity are being reopened as the investigation progresses. Potential witnesses are expected to be interviewed, given the location's proximity to several major retail stores and a movie theater complex.
As a precaution, nearby businesses also took measures to ensure safety. Chick-fil-A announced its closure for the remainder of the day, indicating, “Out of an abundance of caution, Chick-fil-A Twin Falls will be closed for the remainder of today.” The Magic Valley Mall was also temporarily closed, with people inside instructed to remain there for safety.
The In-N-Out Burger location, which opened in July 2023, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. Denny Warnick, Chief Operating Officer of In-N-Out, released a statement saying, “We are heartbroken. Our prayers go out to our customers, our associates, and all of their families. We are working with the Twin Falls Police Department to assist in the ongoing investigation.”
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, with updates expected as they unfold.
