Notre Dame Secures Record Jersey Sponsorship Deal with SoFi Technologies
Notre Dame has signed a groundbreaking jersey sponsorship agreement with SoFi Technologies, which will pay the university up to $20 million annually to feature its logo on uniforms across all sports, starting this fall. This deal surpasses Ohio State's recent agreement with JPMorgan Chase, valued at nearly $17 million per year.
The partnership with SoFi not only sets a new standard in college sports sponsorships but also includes a fund dedicated to supporting scholarships in 26 varsity sports, along with career development and financial education opportunities for student-athletes. This move reflects a growing trend among colleges to seek lucrative sponsorships to bolster their athletic programs.
As jersey sponsorships become more common in college athletics, similar to practices in professional leagues, this agreement is expected to encourage other universities to pursue comparable opportunities, potentially altering the financial landscape of college sports.
