15-Year-Old Dies in Lightning Strike While Protecting Brother in Colorado
A 15-year-old boy, Levi Strobel, died after being struck by lightning while hiking on Mount Blue Sky in Colorado on July 26. Strobel was with his younger brother and three others when the incident occurred during a lightning storm.
According to the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office, rangers attempted life-saving measures upon arrival, but Strobel was pronounced dead at the scene. His brother was airlifted to a hospital with injuries, while two adults in the group sustained minor injuries but did not require medical transport.
Strobel's family described him as a brave and loving brother who sought to protect his sibling in his final moments. They expressed gratitude for the support received and requested privacy as they grieve this tragedy.
As of the latest update, officials indicated that Strobel's brother is reportedly improving.
