Oklahoma Influencer Sara Gilson Shot by Estranged Husband After Accusations of Abuse

A social media influencer, Sara Gilson, was fatally shot by her estranged husband, Jeremiah Duffey, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, on Thursday night, just days after she publicly accused him of pedophilia on TikTok. Gilson, 43, had filed for an emergency protective order against Duffey on June 10, following allegations that he had molested a minor.

According to the Owasso Police Department, Gilson's death occurred after a 911 call reported a domestic violence incident at their residence. Dispatchers heard a woman screaming followed by what sounded like a gunshot. When officers arrived, they found both Gilson and Duffey dead from apparent gunshot wounds to the head.

Gilson had garnered over 30,000 followers on TikTok, where she posted a video on July 11 accusing Duffey of being a pedophile. The video referenced a popular social media trend mimicking Netflix documentaries, with Gilson stating, “Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile.” This post came less than two weeks before her death.

Prior to the TikTok video, on June 9, police received reports from a girl and her parent alleging that Duffey, who coached her traveling basketball team, had inappropriately touched her during an event at an elementary school. Another coach witnessed the incident and reported it immediately. Police indicated that similar allegations against Duffey had been reported in multiple jurisdictions across several states.

Following the allegations, police informed Gilson about how to obtain an emergency protective order, which was granted on June 10. The order mandated that Duffey maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Gilson and her home. However, Duffey had fled and was not located by law enforcement.

Authorities are treating the incident as a murder-suicide, and Gilson's son has been taken into protective custody but was later released to a non-involved parent. Gilson is survived by her son and daughter, with an online fundraiser highlighting her dedication as a mother.
