A man armed with a knife was shot and killed by a customer at Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que in Cerritos on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:12 p.m. in the 11300 block of South Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The man reportedly entered the restaurant and ran through the kitchen and service areas before confronting a customer who was legally carrying a concealed firearm. The customer instructed the man to drop the knife, but he allegedly charged at him, prompting the customer to fire his weapon.

Deputies arrived to find the man suffering from a gunshot wound and lacerations. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel. The customer who discharged the firearm remained at the location and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Witnesses indicated that the man had been driving recklessly prior to the incident, with one witness noting blood inside his vehicle. Reports suggest that the man had also inflicted wounds on himself before entering the restaurant.
