Cleanup Efforts Begin in Kerr County Following Recent Flooding

KERR COUNTY, Texas – Cleanup efforts are underway in Kerr County after heavy rain caused significant flooding, damaging roads and scattering debris throughout the area. The Guadalupe River has started to recede, but visible signs of the flood remain in Kerrville and surrounding communities.

Residents returned to assess the damage over the weekend, encountering debris and damaged infrastructure. Richard Tomich, a Kerrville resident, noted the flooding was particularly disheartening given the community's recent recovery from last year's floods. A search and rescue barge from the previous flood response was found wedged beneath the Sidney Baker Bridge, prompting county crews to prepare for its retrieval. While residents reported receiving timely flood warnings, some areas experienced more damage than in the past. Officials stated that road repairs will commence once water levels decrease, as crews continue to assess the situation and clear debris.
