This incident follows another alarming event that took place on October 18, when a fire broke out at the Sialdah ESI Hospital in Kolkata. The blaze, which started in the male surgery department on the first floor, tragically resulted in the death of a cancer patient due to smoke inhalation. Witnesses reported that the fire was triggered by a short circuit in the air conditioning unit. In the wake of this emergency, authorities took swift action to relocate 54 patients to the Manicktala ESI Hospital for their safety, while others in the affected area were moved to different wards. The situation was ultimately brought under control.
