2-Year-Old Dies in Accidental Shooting in Highland; Parents Arrested
A 2-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed himself Thursday evening in Highland, California, as confirmed by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies responded to a report of the incident around 5:27 p.m. at a residence on the 6900 block of Victoria Avenue.
Upon arrival, deputies initiated CPR on the child, who was subsequently transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Investigators revealed that the boy discovered a firearm hidden between seat cushions on a couch and accidentally discharged it. The child’s mother, Jamaria Cobb, and her boyfriend, Armand Bright, were present in the home at the time of the incident. Both have been arrested on charges of child abuse resulting in great bodily injury or death and are currently held at the San Bernardino County Central Detention Center with bail set at $1,350,000. A second child in the home has been placed under the care of the county’s child and family services agency.
