Search Efforts Intensify After Cargo Plane Wreckage Found Off Karachi Coast
Search teams off the coast of Karachi, Pakistan, have located wreckage from a cargo plane that disappeared while approaching the port city. The aircraft, operated by K2 Airways, lost contact with air traffic control late Tuesday after reporting navigational issues. The Pakistani navy and civilian searchers recovered debris from the Arabian Sea after approximately 12 hours of searching.
The missing crew members include Capt. Muhammad Rizwan Idris, First Officer Faisal Jatoi, flight engineers Muhammad Hamid and Muhammad Arif Siddiqui, and aircraft loader Muhammad Taufiq Khan. K2 Airways expressed its hopes for the crew's safety. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the government to utilize all available resources for the ongoing search. The search for the main wreckage continues, complicated by the deep waters of the Arabian Sea, which are estimated to be around 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) deep.
