Shooting in Coney Island Injures Eight, Including Four Children

At least eight people were injured in a shooting incident in Coney Island, New York, late on July 4th, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD). Among the injured are four children, aged between 6 and 14 years old. A 21-year-old woman is reported to be in critical condition after being shot in the chest, while the others are in stable condition.

The children affected include a 7-year-old boy who was shot in both legs, a 12-year-old boy who sustained a leg injury, and a 14-year-old boy who was shot in the thigh. The youngest child was shot in the stomach, police said.

Authorities received a 911 call reporting multiple gunshot victims at 2929 West 31st Street. Officers arrived to find eight individuals with gunshot wounds, who were subsequently transported to various hospitals in the area.

Police recovered a firearm at the scene, but no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
