Man Arrested After Assaulting Woman in Downtown Houston Parking Garage
Houston police have arrested a 23-year-old man following an assault on a 28-year-old woman in a parking garage on Travis Street. The incident occurred around 9:10 a.m. on Thursday, when the woman was approached by the suspect, who allegedly choked and physically assaulted her.
During the attack, the victim lost consciousness but managed to regain her composure and fight back, ultimately alerting nearby security personnel. A 911 call was made after witnesses heard her screams. The suspect reportedly drove the victim's vehicle to the second level of the garage before fleeing on foot.
Police located the suspect later in the day near the intersection of Main Street and McGowen Street. Authorities indicated they were familiar with the man from previous encounters. The woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Houston Police Department's Major Assaults Division is investigating the case, and as of now, no charges have been filed against the suspect.
