Police Shoot and Kill Armed Man During Domestic Disturbance in North Phoenix

Police shot and killed a man armed with a knife during a domestic disturbance in north Phoenix on Saturday night. Officers responded to a residence near 35th Avenue and Greenway Road around 11 p.m. after receiving reports of a family dispute involving an armed individual.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman at the front of the house. During this interaction, a man emerged holding a knife and began chasing another man in the driveway. Police issued verbal commands for the man to stop, but he did not comply, prompting officers to discharge their weapons.

The armed man was struck by gunfire and subsequently transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No officers or bystanders were injured during the incident. The investigation into the shooting is being conducted by the Arizona Department of Public Safety's Major Incident Division.

Authorities have indicated that Greenway Road between 35th and 37th avenues will remain closed for a significant portion of the day as the investigation continues.
