Severe Weather Disrupts Over 400 Flights in North Texas on Juneteenth
More than 400 flights were canceled at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Dallas Love Field Airport due to severe thunderstorms that swept through North Texas on Juneteenth. The cancellations occurred after ground stops were implemented at both airports during the morning hours.
By 2:10 p.m., nearly 400 flights had been canceled at DFW, while Love Field reported 65 cancellations, according to flight tracking site FlightAware. The storms also caused over 900 flight delays across both airports.
Although the ground stops were lifted by the afternoon, DFW Airport continued to experience departure delays averaging 30 minutes due to lingering weather conditions. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had removed all advisories for Love Field as of the latest update.
The National Weather Service had issued a flash flood warning for several cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including Dallas, as the storms moved through the region.
