Nvidia Expands Sherman Facility, Promises Job Growth and AI Infrastructure Development

Sherman, Texas – Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced plans for a significant expansion of the company's semiconductor manufacturing facility in Sherman during a groundbreaking ceremony on June 16. The expansion will double the production area to 140,000 square feet and is expected to quadruple production capacity.

The project has garnered $650 million in investments, including a $50 million grant from the federal CHIPS Act. Huang emphasized the role of artificial intelligence in reshoring manufacturing in the United States, stating that AI will create a wide range of new jobs and reshape industries.

Coherent CEO Jim Anderson, who joined Huang at the event, highlighted the importance of the facility as the world's first and largest-volume production 6-inch indium phosphide fabrication plant. The expansion is projected to create over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region.

Huang expressed optimism about the future of AI and its potential to transform the economy, stating, 'This is a great opportunity for the United States and we really have got to jump on it so that we don't end up being left behind by this incredible technology revolution.'
