Body of Woman Recovered from Vehicle in Bandera County Flooding Incident

A woman's body was recovered from her vehicle after it was swept into flood waters near Lower Mason Creek Road in Bandera County on Monday. The Bandera County Sheriff's Office reported that a 911 call was received around 5:30 a.m. from the driver, who stated that her vehicle was caught in fast-moving water.

During the call, the woman indicated she was being carried downstream at a high rate of speed and was unable to exit the vehicle. First responders utilized location data from the call to initiate a search, employing swiftwater rescue teams, the Texas Department of Public Safety Air Unit, and drones.

Approximately 11 hours later, around 4:30 p.m., responders located the vehicle completely submerged. The woman was found inside and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident underscores the dangers posed by flooding in the area, which is located about 90 miles southwest of Austin.
