Police Arrest Juvenile Suspect Following Fatal Shooting of Teen at Montbello Recreation Center

Denver police have arrested a juvenile male suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager at a local recreation center on Thursday night. The victim, a male under the age of 18, died at the scene of the shooting, which occurred at the Montbello Recreation Center in the 15000 block of E. 53rd Avenue.

Officers responded to the scene after the Denver Police Department reported investigating a shooting at 7:11 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, officers located one injured person who later died. On Friday morning, police confirmed that a juvenile male suspect had been taken into custody and is being held for investigation of first-degree murder.

Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas stated that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, noting that the parties involved were known to each other. Following the incident, city leaders announced that the Montbello Recreation Center will remain temporarily closed until further notice, and all scheduled programs have been canceled.
