Chris Rabb Secures Democratic Nomination for Pennsylvania's 3rd Congressional District
State Representative Chris Rabb has won the 2026 Democratic primary for Pennsylvania's 3rd congressional district, securing a double-digit victory to become the nominee to succeed outgoing Congressman Dwight Evans. Rabb, a self-identified Democratic Socialist, credited grassroots organizing for his win in the Philadelphia-based district.
Rabb defeated a primary field of three other candidates, including Pennsylvania State Senator Sharif Street, who held endorsements from the Philadelphia Democratic Party and the city's mayor, and Dr. Ala Stanford, who was backed by incumbent Representative Evans. Rabb expressed surprise at the double-digit margin of his victory, stating that his support was as diverse as the district itself.
Endorsed by the Working Families Party and U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rabb addressed voter comparisons to Senator John Fetterman during his campaign. "He had tweets, I have receipts," Rabb said, pointing to his legislative record in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He also stated he plans to act as a "bonus rep" for individuals who feel unrepresented in electoral politics.
Following his victory, Rabb confirmed he has spoken with Street, describing their interaction as gracious, and plans to continue working with him in the state legislature. Rabb also spoke with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who did not endorse a candidate in the primary. Rabb stated he intends to support Shapiro's upcoming re-election campaign.
