LAPD Investigates Fatal Shooting Following Dispute Near South Los Angeles Food Stand

A man in his 20s was killed early Sunday morning following a verbal dispute near a food stand in South Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the shooting occurred near the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Holmes Avenue, where a food truck was parked at the time of the incident.

According to LAPD investigators, the victim approached a white Toyota Prius and became involved in an argument with an occupant of the vehicle. During the altercation, a person inside the car opened fire, striking the man. The victim, whose identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

The suspect fled the area in the white Prius immediately after the shooting. Police said the vehicle traveled in an unknown direction. As of Sunday morning, officials have not provided a physical description of the gunman or any other occupants who may have been inside the vehicle during the encounter.

Homicide detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The LAPD stated that they are working to determine if the incident was gang-related. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active as authorities seek information regarding the suspect's whereabouts.
