14-year-old girl killed, several injured after car crashes into tree in San Carlos

A 14-year-old girl died and multiple people were injured after a car crash in San Diego, California, United states of america on Sunday morning, according to police.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. along Navajo Road in the San Carlos neighborhood, where authorities say a vehicle traveling westbound struck a pedestrian before veering off the road and crashing into a tree in the center median.

San Diego Police Department officials reported that the car was driven by a 35-year-old woman. After hitting an 18-year-old man walking on the sidewalk, the vehicle continued without stopping and collided with the tree.

There were four people inside the car at the time, including the driver, a 1-year-old child, an 8-year-old child, and the 14-year-old girl who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pedestrian sustained a concussion and a serious injury to his left arm. The driver suffered a fractured ankle, while the two younger children were not injured.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and have asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
