Man Found Fatally Shot in Trunk After San Marino Traffic Stop; Driver Sought by Police

A man was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in the trunk of a car following a traffic stop in San Marino early Tuesday morning, according to police.

San Marino police said they pulled over a gray older-model Ford sedan at approximately 2:34 a.m. in the 1900 block of Robles Avenue. As an officer approached the vehicle, the driver fled on foot heading east. Authorities described the driver as an adult male, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, with a dark complexion. Despite a search of the area, police were unable to locate him.

The front passenger, identified only as a male, was detained at the scene and is considered a person of interest in the ongoing investigation. Officers subsequently opened the car's trunk and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is assisting San Marino police with the investigation. The identity of the deceased and the detained passenger have not been released. Los Robles Avenue between Monterey Road and Wilson Avenue was closed to traffic during the investigation.
