Los Angeles Police Investigate Violent Home Invasion in Hollywood Hills
Margaux Mirkin, 70, was assaulted and strangled during a home invasion at her Hollywood Hills residence on Thursday, according to Los Angeles police. Officers responded to the scene and found Mirkin inside her home after the attackers had fled. Police said the suspects stole cash and jewelry before leaving the property.
Property records confirm that Mirkin owns the home where the incident occurred. Neighbors reported that some of the stolen jewelry belonged to Mirkin’s late husband, who died in a house fire two years ago. The full extent of the theft has not been determined, police said.
According to police, the suspects dropped a bag containing a significant amount of jewelry while leaving the scene. A neighbor who witnessed the suspects shined a flashlight in their direction, prompting them to flee. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division is leading the ongoing investigation.
