Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing on I-78 in Allentown, No Injuries Reported
A small aircraft safely executed an emergency landing on Interstate 78 in Allentown, Pennsylvania on Saturday morning after experiencing engine troubles, federal authorities confirmed.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that a Rockwell Commander aircraft landed at approximately 9:20 a.m. on the highway, following reports of engine issues from the pilot. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, both individuals on board the plane were unharmed during the incident.
Dashcam footage circulating on social media captured the moments leading up to the emergency landing, showing the plane flying low over vehicles before touching down on the interstate and slowing to a controlled stop.
Authorities have advised motorists to expect delays in the area, with all eastbound traffic on Interstate 78 being diverted onto exit 40 as response efforts continue. Police indicated that additional details will be released as the investigation proceeds.
The FAA has launched an investigation into the cause of the emergency landing. As of Saturday morning, traffic disruptions remain in effect while officials assess the scene and work to clear the roadway.
