Pomona Police Pursuit Ends in Fatal Crash; Two Dead, Suspect Arrested
A domestic violence call in Pomona escalated into a fatal police pursuit late Wednesday night, resulting in the deaths of two people and the arrest of a local man, according to authorities.
Officers responded to a domestic violence report at around 9:33 p.m. in the 400 block of East 10th Street, the Pomona Police Department confirmed. While officers were speaking with the alleged victim at the residence, a man identified as Marshall Judson, 31, of Pomona, returned to the home in a truck, drove recklessly, and deliberately struck a parked police vehicle.
Judson then fled the scene, leading officers on a pursuit south along Garey Avenue. The chase ended near the intersection with County Road when Judson's truck collided with another vehicle. Both occupants of that vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities reported. Their names are being withheld pending notification of relatives by the Los Angeles County medical examiner.
Judson was taken into custody at the scene of the collision. Investigators recovered a firearm and additional firearm components from his vehicle. Police also noted that Judson's driver's license was not valid at the time of the incident.
This was not the first police response to the residence for domestic violence, according to Pomona Police spokesperson Aly Mejia, who noted officers had previously been called to the home, but made no arrests after determining no crime had occurred during the earlier visit.
Judson faces multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, felony evasion, driving under the influence, driving without a valid license, and weapons charges. The investigation into the fatal crash remains ongoing.
