Fatal Crash Closes Lanes on Northbound Interstate 805 in San Diego
A fatal crash early Thursday forced several lanes to close on the northbound side of Interstate 805 in San Diego, causing heavy traffic in the area. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. near Murray Ridge Road, according to Caltrans.
Initially, all northbound lanes were shut down in the aftermath of the crash, resulting in significant congestion. Caltrans reported that by 6 a.m., two lanes had reopened while three lanes remained closed to motorists.
By 8 a.m., all lanes were back open to traffic. Commuters experienced delays and heavy congestion during the hours-long closure as response crews worked at the scene.
Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the crash or the identity of the person who died. The investigation into the cause of the collision remains ongoing, and Caltrans has advised drivers to expect residual delays in the area.
