Sherman Oaks smash-and-grab: Three suspects use sledgehammers to hit Macy’s at Westfield Fashion Square

Three suspects carried out a Sherman Oaks smash-and-grab at a shopping center on Wednesday evening (March 25, 2026), authorities said, with the Los Angeles Police Department arriving at about 7:10 p.m. to investigate the break-in. The incident occurred near the 14000 block of Riverside Drive at the Westfield Fashion Square complex.

Police said the group used sledgehammers to break into a retail unit inside the mall, targeting a Macy’s department store before leaving the scene. Investigators described the suspects as wearing ski masks and wearing dark clothing, with black and gray outfits noted. The group fled in a white Lexus and remained at large after officers canvassed the area, a department spokesperson said.

The Los Angeles Police Department has classified the event as a smash-and-grab and is continuing its inquiry into the sequence of events and the value of property taken.
