San Antonio chase ends on North Side after DPS disables vehicle; woman to be charged
Published March 25, 2026 — A San Antonio chase that began with a traffic stop attempt on the Southwest Side concluded on the city’s North Side after troopers disabled the suspect’s vehicle, the Texas Department of Public Safety said. The pursuit unfolded Tuesday afternoon and resulted in one person being taken into custody following an evaluation at a local hospital.
According to DPS, a trooper tried to stop a 2008 black Ford Edge for a traffic violation on Vermont Street at about 1:40 p.m. The 35-year-old driver did not comply and drove away, leading officers through multiple areas of the city. Troopers said they disabled the vehicle near U.S. Highway 281 and Jones Maltsberger Road, where the incident came to an end and the woman was transported to a hospital for evaluation before being taken into custody.
DPS confirmed the driver will face a charge of evading arrest or detention in a motor vehicle. Authorities described the investigation as ongoing and said no further details were immediately available. The department did not disclose additional information about the extent of any injuries, damage to property, or whether other enforcement actions were taken during the response.
