Dayton Webber Arrested on Murder Charges in Charles County, Maryland
Dayton Webber, 27, was arrested in Virginia and is facing murder charges in Maryland as of March 24, 2026, authorities said. Law enforcement in Charles County says prosecutors will pursue first- and second-degree murder counts after the death of a 27-year-old man found Sunday in southern Maryland.
Charles County investigators identified the victim as Bradrick Michael Wells of Waldorf, whose body was discovered in a yard in Charlotte Hall, Maryland, roughly two hours after witnesses flagged down deputies near La Plata Road and Radio Station Road in La Plata. Deputies say witnesses who were riding in the back seat of a vehicle reported that the driver — identified as Webber — allegedly shot the front-seat passenger during an argument. Those witnesses told police they would not assist in removing the victim and left the scene while the driver reportedly departed with the injured man still inside the car. Officers obtained an arrest warrant, located Webber’s vehicle in Charlottesville, Virginia, and found him at a nearby hospital seeking treatment; he was taken into custody as a fugitive and is awaiting extradition to Maryland.
Webber is a professional player in the American Cornhole League; his family has said he became a quadruple amputee after sepsis as an infant. The league has acknowledged the reports but will not comment on ongoing legal proceedings and said Webber has not been active in ACL competition since late 2024.
