Nampa Mayor Rick Hogaboam Dies After Collapsing at Regional Town Hall
Rick Hogaboam, the mayor of Nampa, collapsed during a regional town hall Wednesday evening and died after emergency efforts, city officials confirmed on March 19, 2026. The 47-year-old mayor was attending a meeting with neighboring municipal leaders when he suffered a sudden medical emergency.
City officials said Hogaboam collapsed at about 6:45 p.m.Eagle Mayor Brad Pike performed CPR while emergency services were summoned; Hogaboam was pronounced dead shortly afterward. The city released a statement late Wednesday asking the community to keep the mayor’s family and loved ones in their thoughts during the difficult period.
Hogaboam had taken office on January 5 and was a few months into his first term as Nampa’s mayor. His record of public service included time as a Canyon County clerk, service on the Nampa City Council, and a brief period in 2021 serving as a substitute in the Idaho Senate. His official biography also notes he was a husband, father and grandfather and had personal interests in reading and baseball.
Following the mayor’s death, City Council President David Bills is serving as acting mayor until an interim can be appointed ahead of a mayoral election scheduled for November. Condolences were issued across the state, including from Idaho’s governor, former local officials and law enforcement agencies recognizing Hogaboam’s community service and commitment to Nampa.
