Woman Fatally Struck While Crossing 75th Avenue
A 68-year-old woman, identified as Tracie L. Gordon, died after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing a roadway in west Phoenix on the night of Thursday, Feb. 12.
Shortly after 10 p.m. that night, Phoenix police and fire crews responded to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian in the area of 75th Avenue. When first responders arrived, they found Gordon suffering from serious injuries. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Police Describe Circumstances of Collision
Following an investigation, detectives with the Phoenix Police Department reported that they believe Gordon was attempting to cross 75th Avenue in a motorized wheelchair when the collision occurred. According to police, she was crossing against the traffic light at the time she was struck by the vehicle.
Authorities stated that the driver involved in the incident remained at the scene after the crash. Investigators also reported that they do not believe impairment was a factor for the driver.
