Worker Shot During Robbery at Storage Facility in Wissinoming
A storage facility worker was shot during a robbery on Monday night inside the Good Deal Self Storage in Northeast Philadelphia, according to police. The incident occurred at around 7 p.m. in the 5400 block of Eadom Street in the city's Wissinoming neighborhood.
Police said a masked individual entered the Good Deal Self Storage facility and announced a robbery. According to investigators, the employee complied with the suspect's demands and handed over cash taken from the register. During the course of the robbery, the suspect fired a gun, striking the worker in the chest.
Victim Hospitalized in Critical Condition
Authorities reported that, in addition to the chest wound, the victim sustained a graze wound to the head. Emergency responders transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he was placed in critical condition. Police have not released the worker's identity.
Investigators stated that the shooting took place inside the storage facility while the robbery was underway. The description provided by police indicated that the suspect was wearing a mask at the time of the incident. No additional details about the suspect's appearance or identity have been made public.
Suspect Fled on Minibike; Investigation Ongoing
After the shooting, police said the alleged shooter left the Good Deal Self Storage facility and fled the scene on a minibike. The suspect was last seen traveling southbound on Eadom Street in Northeast Philadelphia.
