Jennifer Esposito Moves Out of Home Mortgaged to Finance ‘Fresh Kills’

Actor Leaves Mortgaged Home After Financing Film

Jennifer Esposito, known for her role in the television series Blue Bloods, has moved out of her home, which she mortgaged to finance her film Fresh Kills. She disclosed this in a video in which she said she had been crying because she was moving out of the home she had mortgaged to make her film.

Esposito directed, produced, wrote and starred in Fresh Kills, a crime drama released in 2024. The film has been described as critically acclaimed and is available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu.

Esposito Explains Personal Sacrifice

In the video, Esposito stated that she had mortgaged her home to make her film and was now leaving that home. She expressed frustration that people in the spotlight had not publicly supported the film by recommending it, and she reflected on the idea that people owe each other basic human decency.

In a written caption accompanying her remarks, Esposito posed what she called a singular question about whether human beings owe each other basic decency. She referred to systems that, in her view, keep people in conflict and described survival as a basic, ongoing occurrence. She urged people to think about basic human decency toward another living being and imagined what might happen if people supported one another.

Support From Fellow Performers and Viewers

After sharing her situation, Esposito received messages of support from fans and peers. Actor Debra Messing commented that she was heartbroken for Esposito and stated that she considered the film exquisite. Messing said she believed it was maddening that Esposito had to leave her home in order to present her work.

Actor Don Cheadle also commented, telling people to watch Esposito’s movie and stating that she had put everything on the line. He described her as a real artist in pursuit of truth. Actor Jerry O’Connell added a message saying he was sorry and that he would be on the lookout for the film.
