Triple Homicide Charges Filed After Pennsylvania Standoff
On Monday in Northampton Township, Pennsylvania, authorities charged 55-year-old Kevin Castiglia with three counts of homicide after three people were found dead inside a home on Heather Road.
A court document states that Castiglia faces three homicide counts, abuse of a corpse, and additional charges following an hours-long standoff at the Bucks County residence. Officials took Castiglia into custody on Monday night. He was denied bail and is being held at the Bucks County jail.
Police Response and Standoff Details
According to the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, Northampton Township Police responded to the Heather Road home around 2:15 p.m. Monday to conduct a well-being check. When officers arrived, they encountered Castiglia, who was armed with a knife inside the house.
Law enforcement remained at the scene for several hours. Castiglia was taken into custody at approximately 8 p.m. After officers secured the suspect, they entered the home and discovered three deceased individuals inside. Bucks County officials have not yet released the identities of the people found dead.
A neighbor reported seeing law enforcement officers break down the door of the home and stated that it took approximately two to three hours before officers removed the suspect from the house.
Ongoing Investigation and Autopsies
Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan said a county prosecutor is leading the homicide investigation in coordination with Bucks County detectives and Northampton Township Police. The Bucks County Coroner's Office was expected to conduct autopsies on Tuesday, according to Khan.
Khan stated that officers faced an armed individual for roughly five hours in difficult weather conditions and used tactical resources to take the suspect into custody alive.
Scene Management and Road Closure
Authorities closed Heather Road near Second Street Pike for several hours on Monday as a large police presence responded to the incident at the Northampton Township home. The closure remained in place while officers managed the standoff, secured the area, and initiated the homicide investigation.
