Man Arrested After Armed Robbery in Southwest D.C.
Armed Robbery Reported in Southwest Washington on Dec. 18
A man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in the 1000 block of 6th Street, SW, in Washington, D.C., on December 18. The Metropolitan Police Department reported that the incident took place around 5:30 p.m. as a victim was walking in the area.
Victim Confronted by Three Individuals
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the victim stated that three individuals approached him while he was walking. During this encounter, two of the three individuals displayed handguns.
Suspects Demanded Victim’s Belongings
Police said the two armed individuals demanded the victim’s coat and other personal belongings. After taking the items, the individuals ran away from the scene. No additional details about injuries or property recovery were provided.
Arrest of 21-Year-Old Suspect
Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the report of the robbery in Southwest D.C. Police said they arrested 21-year-old Tristan Cleckley in connection with the incident.
Authorities charged Tristan Cleckley with robbery, carrying a pistol without a license, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Police stated that the two other individuals involved in the robbery have not yet been identified.
Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal
The Metropolitan Police Department reported that the investigation into the armed robbery remains ongoing. The department requested that anyone with information related to the incident contact them by phone at (202) 727-9099 or send a text message to the tip line at 50411.
Police noted that the department offers up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
