On Tuesday night in Dickson, Tennessee, 17-year-old Taylor ShyAnn Ratterree was shot and killed while in a vehicle on Henslee Drive. The Dickson Police Department reported that the incident occurred as Ratterree tried to get away from her ex-boyfriend, identified as 18-year-old Hunter Jackson.

According to authorities, Jackson picked up Ratterree from her workplace at about 8 p.m. The pair were traveling by car when they reached a traffic light on Henslee Drive. Police stated that Ratterree attempted to jump out of the vehicle at that light, and at that point Jackson shot her.

Officers with the Dickson Police Department located Ratterree following the shooting. They transported her to Skyline Medical Center. Police said she died at the hospital from her gunshot wounds. Authorities confirmed that they are investigating her death as a homicide.

Skelton later saw police activity on Henslee Drive and learned the next day that Ratterree had died.

Individuals close to Ratterree emphasized their personal sense of loss and referred to the case as a reminder to be cautious about personal safety and relationships.
