A mass shooting occurred on Nov. 15 at the corner of Leslie Street and Chancellor Avenue in Newark, New Jersey, where individuals were standing outside a liquor store when a gunman opened fire. The shooting resulted in the deaths of 10-year-old Jordan Garcia, 21-year-old Kiyah Mae Scott, and 19-year-old Masi Rogers, and injuries to three other people, including Garcia's 11-year-old brother.

Jordan Garcia, age 10, and Kiyah Mae Scott, age 21, were fatally shot during the incident. Masi Rogers, age 19, was also shot and fought for his life for more than a week before succumbing to his injuries. In total, three people were killed and three others were injured in the shooting.

Four people are in custody in connection with the mass shooting in Newark. A $10,000 reward was offered for information leading to an arrest in the case. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is expected to hold a press conference on Thursday morning to provide an update on the case.

The shooting took place outside a liquor store located at the intersection of Leslie Street and Chancellor Avenue in Newark. At the time of the attack, Jordan Garcia, his 11-year-old brother, and others were standing outside the store when the gunman opened fire. Three people were killed, and three others, including the 11-year-old boy, were injured.

Family Impact and Relocation

Annette Ryan, the mother of victim Kiyah Mae Scott, stated that her daughter had been picking up groceries at the store when she was caught in the crossfire. Ryan said that Scott leaves behind a 3-year-old son. Ryan also said that the entire family has since moved out of state and that the arrests assist with their healing, although their pain continues.

Law Enforcement Actions and Public Statements

Following the shooting, sources reported that a vehicle believed to be connected to one of the suspects was recovered several days later after a chase. Police found two weapons in the vehicle. Several people were initially detained, but sources said none of those individuals were believed to be involved in the shooting. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka stated at a news conference that the perpetrators needed to turn themselves in and that the community was on alert and looking out. Essex County Sheriff Amir Jones stated that the families were shattered, the city was shaken, and that efforts would continue to ensure those responsible could not hide.
