Child Dies After Medical Emergency at Queensland Shopping Center
A 6-year-old boy, identified as Magnus Landon Kayde, died on November 28 after suffering a severe asthma attack at the Urangan shopping centre in Queensland, Australia.
Magnus experienced what was described as a "severe asthma attack" while on a shopping trip with his mother, Casey Morris, at the Urangan shopping centre. Paramedics responded to the incident at the shopping center and attempted to save the child at the scene.
According to the Queensland Ambulance Service, Magnus was in critical condition when paramedics transported him from the Urangan shopping centre to a nearby hospital. He later died at the hospital after those efforts to resuscitate him.
Mother Confirms Death and Describes Events
Magnus' mother, Casey Morris, confirmed her son's death in a post on a GoFundMe page. In that post, she stated that her son "tragically passed at the Urangan shopping centre" and described the loss as devastating for her and her daughters, as well as for others who knew and loved him.
Morris wrote that Magnus was "very unwell" at the time of his death and that he had previously overcome "a lot of hurdles and challenges." She also recounted that on the day he died, Magnus caught a toad and named it Jeff. She said people who were around him that day were impressed, as he was starting to come out of his shell.
Emergency Response and Public Reactions
Morris publicly thanked those who tried to help her son during the medical emergency. She expressed gratitude "to everyone who helped to try to save my little boy" and said she would be "forever" grateful for their efforts.
She also thanked people who comforted her at the scene and tried to shield her from the view of others during the incident at the Urangan shopping centre. In her GoFundMe message, she said that Magnus would be missed immensely and stated that her heart is breaking every day.
